Building a High Rise in Sketchup

New Project! HighRise

I had never attempted to design a high rise building before so I decided to give it a try. I know that buildings have a different set of variables wich I will try to overcome.

Hope you enjoy!

Goal: Reach new heights and learn new things in the way. I will try to develop a new building concept while maintaining structure integrity and dimensions.

Buildup Process:

More updates constantly. Keep looking every now and then.

I love Sketchup.

This Week's tip: Know your Sketchup

Know your Sketchup. Although there are many tools that help you create the objects you are looking for. There are sometimes more efficient ways to getting what you want using different tools and methods.

My advise: Practice creating random stuff with the different tools until you get used to it.

Try making these:

Circle
Square
Rectangle
and for a final exam a triangle

You be your own judge and you must realize that at the dead end of Sketchup, everything is made of lines so learn how to use em'.

Try to get used to the shortcuts. In heavy projects, shortcuts can slash off 10s of hours.

Happy drawing!

The Makaud

The Makaud (Under Development)

Step-brother from the Sgakal, this is a smaller project wich will still qualify for mansion. It is a full 3 level house with "livable" basement. It is merely started and I don't see this one being finished in the near future. Prospectors might change this.

This project has at least 50 hours of work into it. I'm not working so much on this one but when the time comes, I'll get the ball rolling again.

FACTS:

Design: Original Idea
Time: 60+Hrs
Platform: Sketchup 8
Computer: MBP OSX10.6 2gb RAM Intel core 2duo

The Sgakal: Ongoing Final Project

To start you off with a treat. This is my most current project, the Sgakal Empire. This is a model made to scale to be used in one of my current product ventures. The house will be a showcase for a lighting system that I am developing.

Follow along as I post updates of the Sgakal model.

Facts:

Design: Original Idea
Time: 100+Hrs
Platform: Sketchup 8
Computer: MBP OSX10.7 4gb RAM core I7

The Sgakal was inspired by simple lines and a basic design incorporating open and large spaces 90 degrees all around and emphasized doorways. Although the looks of this model are close to amazing, the main design breakthrough is the lighting system with will be at least 90% more energy efficient than most homes and with stunning lighting capabilities throughout the house.

This model is a 3 Bedroom 4 bathroom mansion. It has a large 2 car parking garage and modern custom kitchen. This is a waterfront house with concrete boat dock. A stunning infinity pool adds to the amazing when the view gets blurred with the sea.

A look from bellow showing the hard work.

Like I mentioned before, this is a work in progress. Until now I believe i have invested at least 120 hours into this project. I assume I could be reaching a complete product at about 600-800 Hrs including electric and sewage.

This model will be available for purchase but is not certified to be built in the US. This model would have to be adjusted by someone certified in your area. This is the graphic illustration of the completed product in specific detail.

Hope you like it still now and I will continue to post every now and then.
